Safety Tips
In your home
- Check smoke alarms and change batteries every six months.
- Replace smoke alarms that are ten years old.
- Use motion detector lights around the outside of your home.
- Keep all shrubs cut back from your home to avoid hiding places.
- When on vacation:
Stop or have someone pick up your mail.
Stop your newspaper.
Have someone cut your grass or shovel the snow off your sidewalks.
Let the Police Dept. or a friend know where you can be contacted
In your vehicle
- Always drive with your doors locked.
- At night park in a well-lighted area.
- If you are parking your car and something doesn�t look right to you, stay in the car or drive off.
- At a stop intersection stay back from the car in front of you in the event you must drive off to avoid someone trying to get in your car.
- Never let your keys in the ignition.
- Keep packages in the trunk or out of plain view.
- If you have a cell phone, use it and call 911 if you think your are in any kind of danger.
- If you must walk to your car at night, keep your keys ready to unlock your car and lock the door once inside.
